Product Support is: “The package of support functions required to field and maintain the readiness and operational capability of covered systems, subsystems, and components, including all functions related to covered system readiness.”
The support functions are those activities associated with the product support elements, collectively referred to as the Integrated Product Support (IPS) Elements. The 12 IPS Elements are:
통합체계지원 (IPS, Integrated Product Support)
소요제기 단계부터 획득, 운용유지 및 폐기 시까지 전 과정에 걸쳐 체계를 효과적이고 경제적으로 운영 유지하기 위해 소요를 식별, 설계반영, 확보, 관리하는 활동을 총칭한다. 이 활동들은 궁극적으로 체계의 가동률(운용가용도) 향상과 수명주기비용 감소에 기여한다. 여기서, 체계는 무기체계 또는 전력지원체계에서 지원대상이 되는 주장비를 말하며, 주장비 개발 및 운용유지를 위해 통합지원체계(IPS)는 병행하여 개발되어야 한다.
